Tilak Varma’s Cheeky Advice From Sanjay Manjrekar
Tilak Varma received light-hearted advise from Sanjay Manjrekar on how to increase his bowling opportunities in India’s upcoming matches. The veteran cricket player offered Tilak some guidance as he prepared for India’s gold medal match against Pakistan in the Asian Games 2026 in Japan.
Before the Korogi Park final, Tilak Varma was asked if he was ready to bowl in light of the situation. The vice captain responded favourably when asked if he was prepared and willing to assist with the ball.
Sanjay Manjrekar’s humorous suggestion for more overs
Sanjay Manjrekar made a light-hearted response to Tilak Varma’s comments during the pre-match analysis. The former India batsman suggested an unconventional strategy to increase the all-rounder’s bowling load during the team’s training. Manjrekar made light of the possibility that Tilak could convince captain Shreyas Iyer to grant him more overs during the broadcast.
Tilak Varma’s bowling qualifications
Given India’s semifinal performance against Sri Lanka, Sanjay Manjrekar’s advice was given. Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Abhishek Sharma were among the Indian spinners who claimed five wickets in fewer than eight overs throughout that match. Due to their outstanding bowling performance, India maintained the same starting lineup for the gold medal match against Pakistan.

Tilak’s T20 International bowling record shows that he has claimed five wickets at an average of 12.8 and an economy rate of 6.1. He took his fifth T20I wicket by removing Ryan Burl for 20 runs in one over during the most recent T20I series against Zimbabwe. The all-rounder showed his commitment to contributing in both areas by agreeing to bowl in the title game.
