Litton Das Stresses Senior Batters’ Role Ahead of Tri-Series
Bangladesh skipper Litton Das will begin his full-time ODI captaincy stint with the tri-series in the UAE, which begins on October 17, 2026. The competition will include Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh in a round-robin style, with each team facing the other once before the final on October 23. Bangladesh will meet Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi on October 17, and Afghanistan on October 21.
Litton Das has identified batting consistency as a major problem heading into the campaign. Bangladesh has failed to bat whole innings in previous ODI series against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, a trend that the captain believes must improve if the squad is to compete well in the tri-series and prepare for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Senior hitters must take responsibility, according to Litton Das.
The skipper emphasized the significance of maintaining a good attitude and learning from prior efforts without letting past results determine future strategy. Bangladesh must learn from prior encounters and move forward with confidence in the tri-series.
Litton Das sees the tri-series as effective preparation for upcoming important tournaments, including the World Cup. The skipper admitted that, while a tri-series has fewer teams than the Asia Cup, the competitive intensity and pressure are nevertheless comparable to larger competitions.
Aliss Al Islam’s participation represents domestic form.
The Bangladesh captain emphasized the inclusion of Aliss Al Islam, who gained his first ODI call-up after impressive performances in white-ball cricket.

Aliss made his T20 international debut against Sri Lanka at the Asian Games and took 24 wickets in 10 matches for Prime Bank Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, leading the tournament’s wicket-taking rankings. Litton Das expressed faith in the young bowler’s ability to contribute to the team and believes his domestic experience has adequately prepared him for international cricket.
